The Latest in Off Page SEO
I try my best to keep up with the latest in SEO tools and techniques, and with that in mind, signed up for some free SEO webinars from iThemes and my favorite SEO Expert, Rebecca Gill from Web-Savvy-Marketing. They really have one of the best, easy to understand, SEO blogs out there. The most recent webinar discussed the latest in off page SEO practices. My biggest take-away from the talk was that what you don’t know can hurt you! There are a number of new things on Google’s no-no list that many people might not be aware of, like using automatically generated content, or scraped content. I ran into this with a website I took over a few months ago. Someone had set up an industry news site to automatically post to this business’ blog. One problem, it was posting articles pertaining to the U.K., and this was a local business! Not only did it make the business look bad to its clients by posting irrelevant content, but Google was pinging them for it too. It’s not enough to have a website full of content, it has to be unique and useful to your readers as well.
